What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.
1 Corinthians 3:5-6 NIV
God has given different assignments to each person. Each individual’s unique shape, as fashioned by God, means one person cannot fit into another’s role. Trying to mimic another’s assignment is a disservice to ourselves. God intricately created each of us for His divine purpose, which is unique to each individual. Therefore, each person must discover their God-given purpose and align their life with it, avoiding imitation.
Instead of engaging in arguments like “I belong to Apollos” or “I belong to Paul,” recognise that God has given specific assignments to both Apollos and Paul. The common goal they share is to glorify God. Therefore, we must not belittle our own assignments because they differ from others’. Every individual’s assignment is significant and specific to them. Not fulfilling your part distorts God’s arrangement because Paul plants, Apollos waters, and God gives the increase.
Your assignment is crucial in God’s plan and purpose. We cannot afford to compare ourselves to others or compete with their assignments. The world needs your unique contribution. Live according to the pattern God has created for you, as your part is essential. Seek God’s guidance to understand your purpose in His agenda. God does not make mistakes, so do not doubt your abilities or assignment. He designed them to fulfil His will and desire. Live a life that God will profit from, as He desires to see the fruits of our lives—lives that lead others to Jesus. Be an original in fulfilling God’s purpose for your life, wherever you find yourself.
In addition to this, it is crucial to remember that the fulfilment of your divine assignment brings glory to God and impacts the world positively. Each step taken in obedience to God’s plan not only enhances your personal growth but also contributes to the greater good of the community and the church. Therefore, embrace your uniqueness, and trust in God’s perfect design. Also, diligently work towards achieving the purpose for which you were created. This will ensure that your life bears the fruit that God desires and that you make a lasting impact in His kingdom.
