Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Psalm 20:7 NIV
Every generation faces the same temptation — to rely on human ability, power, and wisdom. The world teaches us to depend on what we can see, hold, and control. Yet Scripture draws a clear contrast between those who trust in earthly strength and those whose confidence rests in God alone.
True deliverance never comes from men. No amount of human effort, intelligence, or influence can secure lasting victory. My miracle does not depend on my strength but on the power of Yahweh, my God, who strengthens His people and grants them victory. When we anchor our confidence in Him, He fights our battles and leads us to triumph.
Our enemies may rise against us, but they will not prevail. Their plans will fail, and their efforts will crumble. They will stumble and perish in defeat, but we will rise with courage and stand firm in the Lord’s strength. Faith in God does not remove battles, but it guarantees victory.
Many people trust in wealth, power, or connections, believing these will bring success. Yet no human source can produce deliverance. Those who recognise this truth and fix their hope on God experience His faithfulness. He always comes through for those who depend on Him completely.
The psalmist affirms this in Psalm 33:16–17: “No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength, it cannot save.” Human power always falls short. Proverbs 21:31 reinforces this truth: “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord.”
Therefore, we must choose to place our trust in Him. He delivers and gives victory in the name of Jesus. His promises stand firm, and His faithfulness never fails. As Psalm 45:17 declares, “Therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.” The Lord has committed Himself to our deliverance. When we trust Him fully, we can walk confidently, knowing His purpose for our lives will always prevail.
Living It Out
Do not put your trust in what you can control or what others can offer. Strength, safety, and success come only from the Lord. When challenges arise, remind yourself that He alone delivers and sustains. Place your full trust in Him, and you will see His faithfulness at work in your life and family.
