Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behaviour from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

Walking in union with Christ is an instruction. We cannot overemphasize its importance. And this must be the lifestyle of every believer. If we are expected to live this way, it is important then that we understand how to watch, develop and grow in this way of life of walking in union with Christ Jesus.
The first action point according to the above passage is to watch what God does. It is to observe closely, what God is doing. To look on at God, so that you don’t miss anything He does. As a believer you must not allow anything to distract you, such that you shift your gaze off the Lord. This is more than just seeing which is only momentary. You must watch God in action in His word, in His creations, especially in the lives of others. Nothing must ever block your view of God, not even the work of ministry nor family.
When you watch God in action, then do what you see Him do. So, we realize that the whole essence of watching is to learn God’s behaviour and put them into action. This is so that you master it very well. It is not just enough to observe, putting your observations into practice is what makes the difference. The kind of love God expects you to show to others is such as you have observed in Christ Jesus. Whatever idea or knowledge you may possess about something, its practicality must be based on what you have watched and learned from God.
It is important also to note that you must realize that you are watching and learning proper behaviour from your Father. Otherwise, you may fail to fully trust Him as you continue in your walk with Him. This is especially at times when what is expected of you to do may not seem to be logically correct. God knows what He is doing and whatever He tells you, do it.
Watching and doing what God does isn’t just a task; it’s a lifelong commitment to growing in Christlikeness. Watching and doing what God does requires us to put on love as our primary garment, covering every aspect of our lives. By allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us, we can develop the habit of choosing God’s ways over our own. This practice leads to transformation, making us living testimonies of God’s love and grace in the world. As we embrace the call to watch and learn God, let’s continually seek His guidance and strength to walk in His light.
