Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth. He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.
Psalm 47:1-4 NIV
Psalm 47 opens with a summons that echoes across heaven and earth: “Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth” (Psalm 47:1–2). Walking in God’s victory through faith begins here — with knowing exactly who God is.
The Great King Has Already Won
He is not merely a good God. He is the great King over all the earth. To possess God is to possess the one beside whom no other king compares. As a result, to have Him is to have access to everything He can offer. Indeed, His authority, His resources, and His victory become yours.
He subdued nations under us and put peoples under our feet (Psalm 47:3). Therefore, we do not need to struggle through every battle as though the outcome is uncertain. The great King has already stepped in and won. Even in situations where others face hard challenges and despair, we can walk without that same weight. We walk, instead, in the reality of the victory He has already accomplished.
“He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob whom He loved” (Psalm 47:4). God Himself is the planner of this inheritance. He marks it out. Moreover, He sets it in place. He arranged it ahead of time — before we even arrive at the moment of possession. In doing so, He honours us, because He loves us. So as we walk forward, we walk into possessing what He has already secured on our behalf.
Walking in God’s Victory Through Faith
Yet the question becomes: how do we hold on to it? In 1 Peter 1:4–5, Peter describes this inheritance in striking terms. Remarkably, it can never perish, never spoil, and never fade. God keeps it in heaven. Furthermore, through faith, God’s power shields us. This shielding continues until the salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
The key, therefore, to not losing what God has marked out is faith. It is a faith that actively shields us from the arrows and plans of the enemy. True faith does not waver. Indeed, it protects. It keeps. God shields us not just for a season, but until the very end.
This is, ultimately, both an invitation and a declaration. It is an invitation to shout and give praise to God for the victories we already have in Him. It is also an invitation to remain steadfast and stand firm in faith. No matter what comes our way, we will not lose sight of what God is doing.
Walking in God’s victory through faith means holding on, even when it is difficult. Because faith is the anchor. And the great King has already won.
Living It Out
Go into each day knowing the great King has already planned your inheritance and secured your victory. Hold on to faith — it is your shield. No matter what you face, God has already settled the outcome in Him.
