Verse of the Day – Colossians 3:15 CEV

Chosen to live in peace - Colossians 3v15

Each one of you is part of the body of Christ, and you were chosen to live together in peace. So let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts. And be grateful.

Colossians 3:15 CEV

In the opening of this chapter, Paul invites the believers to “seek those things which are above”. This, he further explained as setting one’s affection on things above, not on earthly things (v2). He then went on to further describe the practical way to live out this instruction. One of these is what we are looking at today – “live together in peace”.

Consider the happenings around us, terrible and unpleasant stories that fights to rob us of our joy and happiness. It would be impossible for anyone whose mind is on this heart to have peace. Meanwhile, this is the devil’s plan.

However, a truth that can not be denied is that we are all called to live in peace. But the first step is to be part of the body of Christ, and every believer is already a member of that body. It is through faith in Christ Jesus that we are forgiven and made children of God and a part of this body.

The source of our peace, however, is expected to be none other than Christ Jesus. He is the Foundation and the Corner Stone that holds every piece together. Likewise, He is the only source of true and everlasting peace.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:27 NIV

Today, I want to encourage you not to defile the peace in the body of Christ – where you are also a member. Rather, make every effort to spread this peace to everyone around you, especially the unbelievers. Be a peacemaker.

Let the peace that comes from Christ reign in your heart. Let it control your thought such that even if the situation seems challenging and frightening, you would neither be afraid nor worry. In conclusion, whatever situation you find yourself, always be grateful.
