When the master comes and finds that servant doing the work he gave him, it will be a day of blessing for that servant.
Matthew 24:46 ERV
So, if you’ve chosen to be that “faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant”, whom the Master can trust with divine resources and would be found diligent and faithful at his duty post (as we have discussed here), then I would like to draw your attention to some additional truths from today’s verse. Perhaps you are yet to make up your mind about this matter, I pray these would kindle the willingness in your heart today.
The first certainty is that the Master is coming back. The day of accountability is certainly coming. We must give accounts of all the resources that God has abundantly bestowed upon us. More importantly, we will account for how we have impacted the ‘body of Christ’. There’s no one that’s empty of resources, at least we’ve all got time at our disposal if nothing else. Therefore, if life and time is all you’ve got, you will definitely give accounts.
Next, I would like to note that we are all expected to be doing the task that we were created for. There’s a purpose we were all born to fulfil. Therefore, we must ensure we’re not wasting our time at someone else’s field while we leave ours uncultivated and unattended. You must not be busy at another man’s duty post while yours is vacant. It is not enough to work; you must do your assigned task. Will you enter an examination hall to be writing into someone else’s booklet and leave yours empty? Even if you do that, you can be sure that you will certainly fail that course.
The Lord said, “Who is the wise and trusted servant? The master trusts one servant to give the other servants their food at the right time. Who is the servant that the master trusts to do that work? When the master comes and finds him doing the work he gave him, it will be a day of blessing for that servant!
Luke 12:42-43 ERV
And lastly but not exhaustively, there is a reward for every worker both the faithful and the unfaithful ones. The day of accountability would be a day of joy and great blessing for the faithful servants but of great sorrow and regret for the unfaithful servants. However, it is important to emphasise that your choice determines what your reward would be on that day. God is not unjust in His judgement. Whatever you sow today is what you will reap on that day.
