Yet grace [God’s undeserved favor] was given to each one of us [not indiscriminately, but in different ways] in proportion to the measure of Christ’s [rich and abundant] gift.
Ephesians 4:7 AMP
The unity of the Body of Christ is attained by the uniqueness of its members. Grace is not given in equal measures as the manna in the wilderness; each member has a particular role assigned. No two members are alike, and no two members have the same function.
We have all received God’s grace according to the sovereign will of the Supreme distributor. Therefore, the position and task determined by this grace should be accepted with grateful unquestioning obedience.
And whether the measure be great or small, whether its contents be of more brilliant endowment or of humbler and unnoticed talent—all is equally Christ’s gift, and of Christ’s adjustment, and all is equally indispensable to the union and edification of that Body in which there is “no schism.”
Therefore, do not despise your gift, such that it becomes idle and ineffective while you’re chasing after tasks prepared for others to do. Do not be ignorant of the fact that God’s kindness was shown to all. While you may not appreciate what has been given to you, remember that there are others like you who might be wishing to be in your position. Therefore, be grateful for the measure in which grace has been poured out unto you. Again, I say unto you: embrace your gift and put it to work.
