Your body will always be dead because of sin. But if Christ is in you, then the Spirit gives you life, because Christ made you right with God.
Romans 8:10 ERV
It is doubtless to say that sin makes a man dead spiritually. It separates us from God and leaves us in a state of eternal separation. Meanwhile, everyone will inevitably die except for those who would be alive at the coming of the Lord. It is amazing to think of the Lord of life and the glory dwelling in our bodies through our union with Christ. Especially when we remember that our bodies are subject to death because of sin.
However, there is hope for those who are in union with Christ Jesus. For the life-giving Spirit, which is currently at work in and through us. Making us alive unto God and enabling us to continue in the way of life, shall in the end awaken our spirits unto everlasting life.
But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Romans 8:9-11 NLT
Ultimately, this passage teaches us that our lives are no longer defined by sin and death. However, our lives are defined by the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit. It challenges us to live in the fullness of this truth. Also, recognizing the magnitude of Christ’s work on the cross and the life-giving power of the Spirit within us.
Again, isn’t it a great privilege to live in union with Christ Jesus? We are made right with God through Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection. Our righteousness stems from His righteousness, and our life flows from His life. We can rejoice in the fact that our salvation is not based on our own achievements but on grace.
Through Christ, we experience right-standing with God. His Spirit empowers us to walk in righteousness, joy, and victory. The chains of sin do not hold us bound anymore. We have freedom to live a life that honors and glorifies our Father. So, let us embrace the reality of the Spirit’s life within us.
