Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Ephesians 5:6 ESV
We are called to abstain from every form of impurity. However, it is important that we are mindful of the fact that there are many who claim to be teachers of the word of God. This they do with their mouth full of false teaching. There are some people who teach that sexual immorality is an indifferent thing, or a thing of no importance, or a not so dangerous concept. They have been deceived and are going about deceiving others. They know the nature of God but walk contrarily.
Many today even multiply their sins on the basis that God will be merciful to them. They think that they shall escape though they sin against Him. Their thought is that He will not be severe against His creatures whom He knows to be weak. By this, they only reflect upon one part of God’s nature, His mercy. They don’t put into consideration His holiness and justice, and so fancy an unreasonable indulgence in God. God’s mercy does not condone willful disobedience; we must strive to live according to His righteous standards.
Likewise, another basis of self-justification is that none is perfect, and that the rarest saints have fallen into similar great faults. For this they are persuaded that these gross sins are but frailties and human infirmities. If David whom God called a man after His heart fell, why may not I? Reject the notion that indulgence in sin is acceptable, for it contradicts the nature of our righteous God.
Certain scriptures have been misinterpreted, but unfortunately to their ruins. False interpretations of Scriptures lead to spiritual peril. Embrace the balance of God’s nature – mercy and justice – and submit to His authority wholeheartedly. We must be discerning in the face of misleading teachings, seeking wisdom through prayer and God’s Word.
Do not let anyone have a chance to deceive you with a false message about those kinds of bad things. God will certainly punish people who do not obey him. So, keep away from these kinds of people.
