And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
Luke 24:27 NIV
Imagine walking beside Jesus and failing to recognise Him. That’s precisely what occurred with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Grief weighed heavily on their hearts, and confusion clouded their faith. Yet Jesus, in His grace, chose not to reveal Himself immediately. Instead, He did something profound—He opened the Scriptures and showed how every part of it pointed to Him.
Luke 24:27 tells us that Jesus began with Moses and all the Prophets, explaining to them what the Scriptures said about Himself. In that moment, He revealed a powerful truth: the Bible is not a distant, historical text. It is alive, active, and filled with God’s voice. Every page carries purpose, pointing to Christ and unfolding the story of redemption. If Jesus’ story is written throughout the Bible, then so is yours.
The Bible doesn’t only recount the lives of people who lived long ago. It holds a mirror to your life today. When Jesus walked those disciples through the Scriptures, He unveiled God’s eternal plan—one that remains at work in your life now. As you open the Word, you begin to discover how your journey fits into God’s greater narrative.
Think about the stories you’ve read countless times. David, once overlooked and dismissed, became king by divine appointment. Esther, a young woman in a foreign palace, rose to influence at exactly the right moment. These are more than inspiring tales—they are prophetic patterns. Through them, God reminds you that He still chooses the unlikely, still calls the hidden, and still breathes destiny into ordinary lives.
Your own calling, struggles, and victories are not excluded from the pages of the Bible. God has woven His wisdom into every chapter to speak directly into your season. Are you walking through a wilderness like Moses? Waiting like Hannah? Rebuilding after loss like Nehemiah? The guidance, comfort, and clarity you long for are already written—but you must choose to open the book and receive it.
Far too often, believers settle for a surface-level engagement with the Scriptures—a verse in the morning, a devotional at night. But Jesus extends a deeper invitation. He calls you to find Him in every passage, to discover yourself in His promises, and to allow the Word to shape your identity. When you encounter Him in Scripture, you also begin to understand who you truly are: deeply loved, purposefully called, and powerfully equipped.
God’s Word is more than a divine record; it is divine revelation. The Bible unveils the Father’s character, the Son’s mission, and His people’s calling. You’ll find more than stories within its pages—you’ll find yourself. Jesus said in John 5:39, “You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me.” As you search the Bible, you draw closer to the Author Himself.
This is a holy invitation: return to the Bible with fresh eyes and an open heart. Read not to fulfil a routine, but to encounter Christ. Seek not only encouragement, but revelation. Let your heart burn again with the same passion that filled the disciples on the road to Emmaus. Let the Word become your anchor, your light, and your constant companion.
Living it Out
Pause for a moment and reflect: How well do you know the Bible? Have you discovered what God has written about you? The answers you seek—about your identity, your calling, your future—are already there. But you must be willing to read, to listen, and to believe.
Jesus still walks with His people. He still speaks through the Scriptures. And He still opens the Bible to all who are ready to hear.
