The Kingdom of God: Nearer Than Ever Through Christ

The Kingdom of God: Nearer Than Ever Through Christ - Mark 1:14-15

After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come, ”he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Mark 1:14-15 NIV

After John was arrested and imprisoned, Jesus went into Galilee where He proclaimed the good news of God. The Gospel is called “God’s Good News” because it comes from God, about God and brings us to God. This good news is the gospel that brings forgiveness, restoration, and new life. The good news is that the kingdom of God has come near. When man fell, there was a complete divide. Man did not have access to God anymore. Sin destroyed the relationship man had with God in the Garden of Eden. The kingdom of God became very far because iniquity entered the world.

However, the good news is that the kingdom of God has come near. God is no longer distant. We now have access to the Holy of Holies. This is good news. We now have undeniable access to the Almighty through Jesus Christ. Jesus came to restore our broken relationship with God. Glory to God! This is the power of God at work. The power in the good news is God’s accessibility. The creator of Heaven and Earth has made Himself accessible to us.

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.

John 1:14 MSG

In order for the kingdom to come near, the Word became a living being. The wisdom of God is quite mysterious. He carefully crafted the plan to restore man to his original state. However, God had to become flesh and blood. That is the good news. Knowing that God did not abandon us in our fallen state and that He is massively involved in our redemption.

Moreover, God could have just waved His hand to restore us but He went through the intricate process of coming into the world. He was crucified and buried. However, He rose again. That is good news. So, what should be our disposition? Repent and believe the good news. Jesus is in your neighbourhood; He is right where you are. You can turn to Him now for salvation. His blood was shed for the sins of the whole world, including yours. Today is another opportunity, tomorrow may be too late.
