The Coming of the Lord: A Reminder to Be on the Watch

So, beloved, since you are looking forward to these things, be diligent and make every effort to be found by Him [at His return] spotless and blameless, in peace [that is, inwardly calm with a sense of spiritual well-being and confidence, having lived a life of obedience to Him].

2 Peter 3:14 AMP

The message of the coming of the Lord Jesus, and especially, the end of the world, is not generally an exciting topic of discuss, especially among teens and young adults. If anything, we’re looking forward to, then it would be such as graduation day, first day in office, wedding day, etc. You’ll most likely not find anyone looking forward to their day of death.

Unfortunately, the world system today is bombarding us with so many activities that beclouds us of the focus on eternity. Therefore, I wouldn’t want to make a costly assumption that you are looking forward to the coming of the Lord. Rather, I would like to bring this to your reminder that you’re expected to be on the watch. You should be patiently waiting for the Lord’s return. For it is unto such that the Lord will reveal His salvation at His return.

“Christ also died only once as a sacrifice. In this way, he took God’s punishment for the sins of many people. Christ will return to earth a second time, but that will not be as a sacrifice for sins. That time, he will come to save those people who are waiting patiently for him.”

Hebrews 9:28 EASY

Therefore, as you look forward to the Lord’s return, realize that you cannot wait in idleness. You must diligently make every effort (as it is right in God’s sight) to be found spotless and blameless at His return. Frown at all kinds of besetting sins. Is there any addiction? Then, make every effort and trust in the grace of God until you completely break free from the yoke. Actively awaiting the Lord’s return requires purposeful effort.

“You must catch the troubling foxes, those sly little foxes that hinder our relationship. For they raid our budding vineyard of love to ruin what I’ve planted within you. Will you catch them and remove them for me? We will do it together.”

Song of Songs 2:15 TPT

There must be a deliberateness in your actions to make your calling sure. Duly obey every instruction. Every height you attain in your faith requires even a more earnest carefulness and devotion. This is so that you will not fall. You must make every effort to catch all the troubling foxes, their aim is to destroy the vineyard at bloom.

The reason you might not be seeing them yet is because there is not much to destroy when the vineyard has not yet budded. Will you not catch them and remove them now? Will you not join hands with the Lord to remove the destroyers?

It is urgent to act now. Catch and remove troubling foxes to ensure the preservation of your spiritual vineyard. The call is not to idle waiting but to purposeful action. Align your life with the anticipation of the coming of the Lord.
