The LORD says, “Come, everyone who is thirsty—here is water! Come, you that have no money—buy grain and eat! Come! Buy wine and milk—it will cost you nothing! Why spend money on what does not satisfy? Why spend your wages and still be hungry? Listen to me and do what I say, and you will enjoy the best food of all.
Isaiah 55:1-2 GNT
The message is clear. The instruction is simple. The call is out – come! It is “Come to the supper;” Come to the waters.” “The Spirit and the Bride say, Come.” Through all sorrows, through all trials; through the nights of darkness, through all calamities. Through all temptations, or whatever may be, it rings out, “Come!”
It is God’s desire for everyone to respond to this call. This call, is a testament of the love of God. It is the evidence of God’s invitation to all. Therefore, it is expedient for us to respond wholeheartedly to this call. God wants us to accept the invitation in this call towards us. Ultimately, the call is still available but the response is important.
Moreover, all through the scriptures God puts out this call. It would be negligent of us if we refuse to open our hearts to God. This is the call to us – Come! The invitation echoes across time, beckoning us to come, buy, and freely receive God’s blessings without cost. Seek the Lord while He may be found.
O that every heart may yield to the Saviour’s invitation. That the weary heart will be refreshed once again, and the troubled will find rest. That the broken and shattered be put to together, and the barren may bring forth even in abundance, and every tear be wiped. And the people of God may once again rejoice and be glad.
Are you willing to come? “Listen to me and do what I say,” is the instruction that follows when you have finally come. Just listen to the Father’s instructions and then do them. Then you can be sure that “you will enjoy the best food of all.” Stop wasting your time and strength on what does not satisfy, come to the Father today.
