Go to the ant, thou sluggard; Consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, Overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, And gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Proverbs 6:6-9 KJV
Humanly Speaking, receiving initiative from animals seems far-fetched. When that animal is now one that is completely lower, it becomes unfounded. In today’s verse, God is making what looks like a bit of ‘weird advice.’ Go to the Ant. Following this seemingly abnormal practice might surprise you, but it has the potential to be a life-changing revelation.
The revelations and patterns that God would give you for your life sometimes won’t make practical sense. They will sometimes not seem well articulated to human logic. Yet, if you faithfully adhere to them, you will walk in a dimension of the divine. God’s ways are not human; if you can see the way God sees and obey His instructions, you will live a life that will become an eternal wonder.
So, I want us to look at the principles of the Ant systematically. I want us to see the lifestyle that this animal specie emulates that can be absorbed by you and me. Let us go to the school of the Ant and consider its ways. The scriptures tell us to learn wisdom from the ant. Let’s explore this wisdom together and see how it can benefit us on our life’s journey. Let us trust in the Lord’s revelation even when we cannot explain it in our minds.
For God to write a referral letter through the teacher (Solomon) for us as humans to the Ant means we cannot take these teachings for granted. God must have noticed something that we lacked which the Ant possessed. I don’t want you to have a notion that this is not for you because you know what that verse is talking about. Open your heart to the revelation of the word of God and pray for a search just like David did in the Psalms.
