Now then, my son, do what I say: Flee at once to my brother Laban in Harran.
Genesis 27:43 NIV
The love of God remains profound and relentless, even when you are running from Him. He still seeks to draw you back. Jacob, through deceit, obtained his brother’s blessing and had to flee from the consequences of his actions. In Genesis 28, during his escape, Jacob encountered God. This reminds us that no matter how far we run, God persistently calls us to Himself. His persistence says, ‘Stop running’. The question is: will you respond?
Jacob was consumed by fear for his life, running to escape his mistakes. However, God saw beyond Jacob’s flaws and had a greater plan. Even though Jacob’s actions labelled him as a deceiver, God knew his potential and the destiny ahead. Through Jacob, God intended to fulfil His covenant with Abraham, and He orchestrated events to bring Jacob into His purpose. Similarly, God sees beyond your failures and calls you to live in His will.
While Jacob ran to avoid facing the consequences, God used that moment to redirect his path. At Bethel, Jacob realised that God had never abandoned him; instead, He was guiding him toward a higher purpose. Why, then, do you continue to run from God? Why delay your surrender until everything falls apart? Even in your rebellion, God calls you because He loves you and desires a relationship with you.
Now is the time to stop running and yield to God’s call. He invites you to rest in Him, offering peace and purpose. God’s plans for you exceed your fears and insecurities; He knows how to guide you into His perfect will. Life without God’s direction leads to emptiness, but with Him, you will find fulfilment and meaning.
In conclusion, God has been calling you for a long time, urging you to come to Him. Today is the day to stop running and start walking in alignment with His will. Accept His invitation to experience the rest, peace, and purpose He promises. Surrender to Him now—He is waiting to meet you where you are and lead you to the life He designed for you.
