So let us know and become personally acquainted with Him; let us press on to know and understand fully the [greatness of the] Lord [to honour, heed, and deeply cherish Him]. His appearing is prepared and is as certain as the dawn, And He will come to us [in salvation] like the [heavy] rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth.
Hosea 6:3 AMP
Time and again, the Lord has revealed to us from His word that a sinful life is detestable unto Him. He has also revealed that the sacrifice of sinners is an abomination unto Him. Therefore, He is not pleased with such that remains stiff-necked. At the same time, He has not failed to make known to us, the demands to live a life that is pleasing and acceptable unto Him. The first step is to repent and be saved through the redeeming power found only in Jesus Christ. God’s desire is that everyone comes to repentance.
The Israelites were in such a similar situation in the days of prophet Hosea. There were accusations of sinful living against God’s people. The devil held several things against them. They were convicted of sin. They’d erred from the way of the Lord and joined with the wicked to do evil. This what the Lord had to say through the prophet.
Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites, because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: “There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Because of this the land dries up, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea are swept away.”
Hosea 4:1-3 NIV
Are you not guilty of the same? What would the Lord say of you if He were to speak?
Then, we come to chapter 6 of Hosea. The prophet invites the people, even as I believe God is also inviting us also, unto repentance. A new life with God. God does not want anyone to remain in exile forever. The exile of enmity with Him, which sin has brought us into.
“…By my life, I swear that I don’t enjoy seeing people die—not even evil people! I don’t want them to die. I want them to come back to me. I want them to change their lives so that they can really live…”
Ezekiel 33:11b ERV
Come and let us return [in repentance] to the Lord, for He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us. After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up That we may live before Him.
Hosea 6:1-2 AMP
Albeit our call is unto this. To return to the Lord in repentance. This is so that we may enjoy healing from all the wounds that sin has brought upon our lives. It is also for us to experience revival and restoration into an everlasting life with God. Tomorrow might be too late, therefore, come today. Come just as you are. Return to the Lord in repentance and you will be saved.
