Don’t trust in your power to take things by force. Don’t think you will gain anything by stealing. And if you become wealthy, don’t put your trust in riches.
Psalm 62:10 ERV
We often approach the issue of trusting God with the belief that it is easier said than done. We easily say words like “in God alone I trust” or “I will trust God whatever comes my way…”. But how often do we give in to the devil’s lies and doubt the ability of God when the “whatever” shows up or when the waiting in the place of prayer seems to be taking longer than expected?
It seems to be easier to trust God when we do not have much (especially financially). When we do not have, we simply wait on God. The moment God starts to release riches to us, sooner than we could have imagined, we start to see ourselves as being able to afford them.
Very often, riches put us on the verge of trusting in ourselves or our possessions. God reminds us not to place our trust in riches or anything else, but to rely on Him alone. Trust in God and not yourself.
Trusting in God is not always easy, especially in a world that often prioritizes power and wealth above all else. As Christians, we should prioritize placing our faith in God above all else. Trusting in God means accepting His plan, even when it differs from our own desires or expectations. It means relying on Him to provide for us, rather than seeking wealth or success at all costs.
Psalm 62:10 encourages us to keep our hearts and minds focused on God rather than on worldly possessions. It warns against greed and materialism, encouraging us to seek true treasure through our relationship with God.
Trusting in God is not a one-time decision, but rather a continual choice that we must make each day. We may not always understand God’s ways or His plan for our lives, but we can trust that He is always working for our good.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 NIV
As we grow in our faith and deepen our relationship with God, we can experience the peace and joy that come from placing our trust in Him.
