Verse of the Day – Proverbs 10:17AMPC

Proverbs 10:17

He who heeds instruction and correction is [not only himself] in the way of life [but also] is a way of life for others. And he who neglects or refuses reproof [not only himself] goes astray [but also] causes to err and is a path toward ruin for others.

Proverbs 10:17 AMPC

The way to a city is the road by which we reach it. The life of a holy man is a way to spiritual and eternal life because it is the means by which men come home to God. If there were no Christians in the world, there would have been no means by which sinners could be brought from death to life.

Christ is pre-eminently “the way,” because His life is the great means by which men learn to know and to return to God.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

John 14:6 makes it clear that there is no other way to reach God except through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It means recognizing that He is the Son of God, who came to earth to live a sinless life and die on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. It means acknowledging our need for a savior and putting our faith in Him as the only way to have eternal life.

As believers, however, we must also realize that our faith in Jesus and obedience to His instruction is not just for our own benefit. It has a ripple effect that can impact those around us and even generations to come. It is also our means of showing the ‘light’ unto the path of others and the ‘salt’ to bring healing and preservation to the souls of men for heaven.

On the other hand, if one would not heed God’s instruction, such a person is not only putting himself in the danger of hell, but he is also able to influence and draw others along the same path. We are all a preacher of some sort of message. The matter here is the content of your life, for that is your loudest message.
