You may have lots of ideas about what you want to do. But it is the Lord’s plans that are important.
Proverbs 19:21 EASY
Most times, when we make plans, we also prepare alternatives. We create back-up plans, safety nets, or “Plan Bs” in case Plan A fails. While this is often considered wisdom in our human dealings, it is not the pattern God expects from us in our walk with Him. When it comes to our relationship with the Almighty, there must be no plan B with God.
To truly walk with God, we must come to Him as our only source of help, hope, and direction. When you approach God without any ulterior motives or alternative saviours, He delights in your trust. Half-hearted devotion or spiritual infidelity is not tolerated in the secret place. The pursuit of intimacy with God demands a resolute focus—no plan B with God.
The Lord detests idolatry. Throughout Scripture, especially in the Old Testament, we see how God continually confronted the Israelites about their divided loyalties. Despite His miracles, they often turned to other gods—seeking assistance elsewhere. Today, many believers unknowingly fall into the same trap.
Culture now packages false gods in attractive ways. Advertisements promise instant peace, self-help philosophies offer guidance outside God’s Word, and technology seduces us with endless distraction. The truth is, anything that becomes our “go-to” before God is an idol. That’s why we must regularly examine our hearts and ask: Where do I place my trust first?
Jesus spoke directly about undivided focus in Matthew 6:22: “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” A singular, clear, unwavering eye brings clarity, light, and purpose. The same principle applies to our spiritual lives. When our hearts are set solely on God, He leads us in light and truth. However, when we attempt to combine faith in God with trust in worldly systems, confusion, compromise, and frustration follow.
Having no plan B with God means we don’t manipulate circumstances to fit our desires. We don’t lean on human logic more than divine instruction. We don’t run to people first and ask God later. Rather, we wait on Him, we trust His Word, and we let Him lead—even when it’s uncomfortable.
Living It Out
So, how do you live this truth daily? Begin by acknowledging any “Plan Bs” you’ve entertained—whether it’s financial security, personal ambitions, emotional crutches, or even religious activity without intimacy. Then, yield them at His feet. Let the Holy Spirit help you filter your motives. Ask Him to search your heart and remove divided affections.
God is not a backup plan; He is the whole plan. The life of a true believer is marked by singular devotion and unwavering dependence. Don’t dilute your relationship with God by relying on alternatives. Whether in crisis or clarity, your posture should remain the same—eyes fixed on Jesus, heart set on His will, and confidence rooted in His Word.
So today, choose the path of singular devotion. Abandon the safety nets and refuse the exit routes. Let your heart echo this truth: there is no plan B with God. That’s the only way to walk in light, experience peace, and live a life that glorifies Him completely.
