But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, They shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast.
Isaiah 61:6 NKJV
When a person becomes born again, there is a change. It is not just a change in citizenship. It involves being named with a new name. There is a translation that takes place. This translation is a kind of transformation that involves a total change of position and identity. Our position and identity in the kingdom of darkness become vacant. God translates us into the kingdom of His dear Son, Jesus, who dwells in light.
Peter was Peter until he met Jesus. And as he became translated with the other disciples, there was a change. There was a distinct identification that was different from what they were known for. The Apostles at Antioch were named after Christ because of how they behaved. There was a difference when they became men of Jesus. They were called Christians (Little Christ)
This verse shows that a name is given to the people of God. Meanwhile, it is important to note that human beings will identify us as priests and servants of the Lord. Why? Our lives will show who we claim to have accepted. Once we say we belong to the kingdom of God, our lives will become patterned after the kingdom.
However, the question is, when men see you, what would they call you? What would they call me? Would we be named after Jesus? What would cause this naming is if our lives and words herald the kingdom we belong to.
So, are we not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ? We need to rise to herald the gospel of Jesus. Our identity will not be mistaken when we proclaim Jesus and Him crucified both in word and deed. Will you be named after Jesus?
