For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV
Confidence in God allows us to live unshaken by life’s difficulties. Indeed, this unwavering trust is crucial for every believer. Paul demonstrated this confidence in 2 Timothy 1:12, declaring, ‘I know whom I have believed.’ He possessed a firm conviction about God’s ability. Furthermore, he believed God could safely keep everything committed into His hands. Therefore, knowing whom you have believed brings profound peace. This conviction empowers us to stand strong.
Truly, a spiritual milestone exists in our relationship with God. At this point, we can confidently declare, ‘I know whom I have believed.’ This assurance comes without any doubt. Moreover, it strengthens us against the enemy’s attacks. For example, the devil often tries to sow seeds of discouragement and doubt. He wants to erode our faith and confidence in God. However, our deep conviction allows us to proclaim, ‘I know.’ This powerful declaration counters every lie.
The adversary consistently seeks to undermine our faith. He aims to make us abandon our trust in God completely. Nevertheless, our persistent belief fortifies us. It ensures our unwavering proclamation remains, ‘I know whom I have believed.’ We confidently know He keeps us safe. Furthermore, we know He fully cares for us. We also understand He handles our difficulties. Indeed, our future and our entire lives rest securely in His capable hands. This truth brings immense comfort.
Perhaps you are navigating challenging seasons or difficult circumstances. Questions may arise about God’s presence or power. Do you truly know whom you have believed in these moments? Do you recognise His ability to prevent your falling? Certainly, He can and will provide complete care for you. Therefore, do not allow the devil to implant discouragement or doubt in your heart. These seeds can hinder your confidence in God. Instead, recall His sovereignty and capability. He can handle every problem you face.
Maybe, you don’t even know the One whom Paul was talking about, the One who is able to keep everything committed unto Him until the very end. This is an opportunity for you to know the Lord Jesus. He died for you, rose again on the third day; He satisfied God’s requirement for you to be reconciled to Him. Therefore, by believing in Jesus, that His death and resurrection are sufficient for you to know God and be made righteous, you too can become God’s child and grow in faith to be able to declare like Paul: “I know whom I have believed”.
Living It Out
Amidst life’s storms, actively remember God’s character and power. Therefore, reaffirm your conviction in His abilities. Let the truth of knowing whom you have believed empower you daily. Stand firm, knowing He is sovereign and completely capable of handling your every concern. Indeed, live with unshakeable confidence.
