and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
Revelation 1:5 NIV
This short statement captures the heartbeat of the gospel — the never-ending love of Jesus and the complete deliverance He brings through His blood. John writes, “To Him who loves us,” showing that Christ’s love is ongoing and personal. He loved us before time began, He loves us now, and He will continue to love us for eternity. His love flows continuously because it springs from His nature, not from what we do.
When doubts arise, we must remember that His love does not change with our circumstances. It remains constant through every season — strong when we are weak and steady when we stumble. The Cross forever proves that love. Jesus gave everything — His life, His blood, and His heart — to demonstrate how deeply He cares for us.
Therefore, when fear suggests that God has turned away, we can look to Calvary again. The Cross speaks louder than our failures and reminds us that His love is both active and unending.
John also reminds us that Jesus “has freed us from our sins by His blood.” This truth is powerful and final. Jesus did not start a gradual process of redemption; He completed it once and for all. His blood accomplished what no human effort could ever achieve.
Zechariah 13:1 foretold this miracle: “On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.”
That fountain still flows today. Through His blood, Jesus cleanses every believer completely. His sacrifice broke the power of sin and opened the way to the Father. Because of Him, we live free from guilt and condemnation. We do not struggle to earn forgiveness; we receive it as a finished gift.
Moreover, His resurrection confirmed that victory. Jesus conquered death and now holds its keys. Because He lives, we live in His triumph. We no longer strive toward freedom — we walk in the freedom He already secured.
The Apostle Paul explains this in 1 Corinthians 6:11: “But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
Paul’s words affirm that our cleansing is complete. Jesus’ work is not waiting for perfection from us — it is already finished. As we walk closely with Him, we continually experience the strength of that truth. Daily fellowship with Jesus keeps our hearts aware of what His blood has accomplished.
Even those who have not yet believed are within reach of this salvation. Christ has paid the price; they simply need to accept it. When anyone turns to Jesus, they immediately step into the victory He already won.
Through Him, we live loved and free. Truly, “to Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood,” be all glory and praise forever.
