God’s Beloved Children: Embracing the Blessing of Making Peace

God's Beloved Children: Embracing the Blessing of Making Peace - 1 John 3:1

Look with wonder at the depth of the Father’s marvelous love that he has lavished on us! He has called us and made us his very own beloved children. The reason the world doesn’t recognize who we are is that they didn’t recognize him.

1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ‭TPT

Oh, what an extraordinary privilege it is to be identified as God’s children. It is the who God declares us to be, not merely a title bestowed by humans – His beloved children. This is, in fact, the special blessing reserved for those who actively pursue and uphold peace while remaining steadfast in their holiness. The Bible states, “the peacemakers…shall be called the children of God.” It is an unwavering hope for those who dedicate themselves to fostering peace and preserving their holiness.

So, contemplating the reality that an ordinary person can become a child of God is awe-inspiring. If it were not for God’s lavish love, we would have never experienced true peace. However, because of this incredible love, we have received peace. Likewise, God has entrusted us with the privilege of partnering with Him to actively share this love and peace by reconciling humanity through Christ Jesus. As a result, we not only become ambassadors for Christ but also embrace our identity as God’s beloved children. We are God’s children, born not of natural descent, nor of human decision, but born of God (John 1:13).

And since we are his true children, we qualify to share all his treasures. For indeed, we are heirs of God himself. And since we are joined to Christ, we also inherit all that he is and all that he has. We will experience being co-glorified with him provided that we accept his sufferings as our own.

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭17‬ ‭TPT‬

So, we are God’s children and joint heirs with Christ. We now have access to enjoy the Father’s treasures here on earth. Also, we have the hope that we will one day share in His glory. Furthermore, the bible also says that:

But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings. A spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world. For at one time you were not God’s people, but now you are. At one time you knew nothing of God’s mercy, because you hadn’t received it yet, but now you are drenched with it!

1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭TPT‬‬

As God’s children, we have a vital role in broadcasting His glory throughout the world. We are not to behave like the prodigal son, who after he had received his share of his father’s properties went away and squandered everything. On the contrary, we are to confirm our sonship by maintaining the peace we have with the Father. We must never take His great love and mercy upon us for granted.

Everyone who is truly God’s child will refuse to keep sinning because God’s seed remains within him, and he is unable to continue sinning because he has been fathered by God himself. Here is how God’s children can be clearly distinguished from the children of the Evil One. Anyone who does not demonstrate righteousness and show love to fellow believers is not living with God as his source.

1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭TPT‬‬
