God Sees Everything: Embracing a Life of Integrity

God Sees Everything: Embracing a Life of Integrity - Psalm 139:2

You know when I sit down and when I rise up [my entire life, everything I do]; You understand my thought from afar.

Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This verse emphasises that we cannot hide from God. He is fully aware of everything about us—our thoughts, actions, and motives. God’s knowledge encompasses the entirety of our existence, leaving nothing hidden from Him. God sees and knows everything about us. So, this understanding reinforces God’s comprehensive awareness and care for us. As the Bible says, “We cannot deceive God.” While a wife might hide something from her husband, or a husband from his wife, no one can hide from God.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.‬‬

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV

Therefore, as believers, we must genuinely embrace righteous living, striving to please God rather than man. God sees and understands everything we do. He perceives our thoughts long before they form in our minds; distance or time does not limit His understanding.

Consider Joseph’s refusal to sin with Potiphar’s wife in Genesis 39:9. Despite being in a foreign land away from his family, Joseph exemplified living with the awareness of God’s omniscience. He declared, “How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”. Similarly, David recognises God’s all-seeing nature through his repentance in Psalm 51 after confronting his sin with Bathsheba. He openly acknowledges his sin before God and seeks purification.

The question to ponder is: What are you hiding? God sees everything. Can you come boldly to the throne of grace and acknowledge your shortcomings? He is able to restore you and give you peace.

Furthermore, as believers, it is crucial to live with the consciousness that God sees us even when no one else is watching. 2 Corinthians 5:10 reminds us, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”

In conclusion, understanding that God sees and knows everything about us, as highlighted in Psalm 139:2, calls us to live righteously. This divine omniscience encourages us to live with integrity and in the fear of the Lord, motivating us to pursue holiness. It assures us of God’s perfect guidance and the ultimate reward for our faithfulness. Recognising God’s all-encompassing knowledge inspires us to align our lives with His will, honour Him, and reflect His holiness. Remember today: God sees you. Live in a way that honours Him.
