Dreams and Destiny: Walking Boldly in God’s Purpose

Then they said to one another, “Look, this dreamer is coming!”

Genesis 37:19 NKJV

Joseph was his father’s favourite, receiving the best of everything. Beyond being the favoured son, he was a dreamer. His dreams were not mere imaginations or random thoughts; they were divine revelations from God about his future. Even as a teenager, he received glimpses of God’s plan for his life.

With a sincere heart, Joseph shared these dreams with his family, but they could not understand them. Instead of seeing God’s hand at work, his brothers ridiculed him, dismissing his dreams as mere fantasies. To them, the idea that their younger brother could ever rule over them was unthinkable.

This passage teaches us that people may not always understand what God has placed in our hearts. However, their disbelief should not deter us. If God has given you a vision, you must hold onto it, even when others doubt or ridicule you. Often, God’s plans exceed human comprehension. As Scripture says, “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Like Joseph’s brothers, the world may not grasp the significance of your calling. They may question your decisions, mock your aspirations, or fail to see the purpose behind your journey. But you are not just dreaming for the sake of dreaming—you are carrying a vision from God.

Do not abandon your dreams simply because they do not fit into the world’s expectations. Write the vision down, make it plain, and run with it (Habakkuk 2:2). God has placed it in your heart for a reason. Imagine if Joseph had given up because of his brothers’ ridicule. He would not have become the vessel God used to save his family and an entire nation. What if the dream God has given you is tied to the deliverance of many?

Hold on to the vision, trust in God’s timing, and remain faithful. The journey may be filled with challenges, but in the end, His purpose will prevail.
