Don’t Fight God’s Battles: Let Him “Step In” to Fulfil His Purpose

Don't Fight God's Battles: Let Him "Step In" to Fulfil His Purpose - Exodus 7:5

The Egyptians will realize that I am God when I step in and take the Israelites out of their country.

Exodus‬ ‭7‬:‭‭5‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This verse highlights a very important lesson – a force that keeps vessels of honour in momentum. It is like a life jacket that keeps us afloat in the ocean of life. The assurance that God will “step in” and achieve what He wants to do for Himself. Although God chose Moses, commissioned and empowered him, it was only to be a spokesperson before the Israelites and Pharaoh. And though we cannot undermine the necessary making we must undergo before stepping into a mission for God, God must step in to accomplish His purpose.

Some chosen vessels make the error of believing they have a say or have acquired the power to accomplish God’s purpose. They failed to realise that God says “…I can do what I say I can do.” (Numbers 11:23 ERV). God told Moses from the get-go that this mission was about what He wanted to do.

And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’ So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.

Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬, ‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Had Moses failed to remain in this reality of God’s means of accomplishing His purpose, he would have fallen into the error of “fighting God’s battle”. This was Saul’s mistake when he offered a burnt offering he was not authorised for. His heart was not fully devoted to the Lord. He mistakes God’s quietness through Samuel’s delay for His absence. He thought God was not going to step in and accomplish the victory He promised. What a faithless and fearful man!

“What have you done?” asked Samuel. Saul replied, “When I saw that the men were scattering, and that you did not come at the set time, and that the Philistines were assembling at Mikmash, I thought, ‘Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the Lord’s favor.’ So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering.” “You have done a foolish thing,” Samuel said. “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.

1 Samuel‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So, before you allow fear to have the best of you, please allow God to have His way. The fulfilment of His purpose is only possible when He steps in to do what He said He can do. Likewise, ditch the faithless heart, and hold on to God in an unwavering faith.

So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him make himself scarce. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.

James‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭10‬ ‭MSG‬‬

He will come through at the right time. Meanwhile, I would like to note with you that the right is His time and not yours.
