The Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out for help? Tell the people to move forward.”
Exodus 14:15 GNT
This powerful directive resonates with anyone facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. While God promises us the kingdom, fear and apprehension can cling to us like sand on desert boots. The Israelites, trapped between the Egyptian army and the unyielding Red Sea, knew this feeling well. Trapped in their despair, they focused on their plight, not God’s unwavering promise. Meanwhile, in addition to His earlier instruction not to be afraid, God has another word for us to obey: “move forward”.
Exodus 14:10 paints a vivid picture of their hopelessness: “As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord.” Yet, God’s response wasn’t another soothing balm for their fear. He didn’t simply tell them to “hold on” or “trust me.” Instead, He issued a bold command: “Start moving.”
Clinging to fear wouldn’t change their fate. Even fervent pleas, while powerful, weren’t the key to escape. God did not ask them to pray or wait for Him to act. He told them to move toward the sea, even though they had not seen the water part yet. This was a test of their faith and obedience. God had already told Moses that He would make a way for them through the sea, but they had to take the first step. The path to victory lay in action, in taking a leap of faith that defied logic and embraced God’s plan. They were asked to move before witnessing the miraculous parting of the sea, to trust before seeing the impossible made possible.
This divine call echoes through time. God often grants us clarity of direction even in the midst of uncertainty. His instructions may not always align with our understanding, but our obedience becomes a testament of our faith. He is the one holding our hand, guiding us through uncharted waters. He is the one who will bring His promises to fruition, but only if we are willing to take the first step, to walk into the unknown with unwavering trust.
Therefore, dear reader, when God whispers “start moving,” be ready to answer the call. Be sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and whatever action He guides you towards, embrace it with unwavering faith. Remember, victory lies not in our own strength, but in surrendering to God’s timing and purpose. He will part the seas, pave the paths, and deliver you to your promised land. Trust Him, move forward, and claim the victory He has ordained for you.
Remember, God is the one who parted the Red Sea and drowned the Egyptians, the one who brought the Israelites into the Promised Land. He sent His Son Jesus to die for your sins and give you eternal life. God has good plans for you, to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future. He is the one who loves you with an everlasting love and will never leave you nor forsake you.
So, move forward in faith and obedience, and see what God will do for you. He will surprise you with His power and grace, and bless you beyond your expectations. He will fulfil His word in your life, and give you victory.
