And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:2-3 NIV
Evil increases daily, and as long as we remain in this world, we will inevitably encounter wickedness. The reality of evil is undeniable, but we must not become complacent or indifferent. Instead, our response should be one of persistent prayer. Through prayer, we receive divine strength and the power to overcome the wickedness that surrounds us. This is not a passive ritual but a vital instrument in securing our deliverance. Even in the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus instructed us to pray, “Deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13), emphasising the necessity of seeking God’s protection.
While the world grows darker, we must remember that God remains faithful. His faithfulness ensures that the evil around us does not consume us. Often, we are left in shock at the depth of human depravity—betrayals, greed, immorality, and all manner of wickedness. It can be unsettling to witness the moral decay in our society, but we must not assume that we are immune to its influence. A mindset of “This cannot happen to me” is dangerous. The truth is, without God’s help, no one is beyond temptation or attack.
Instead of relying on personal strength, we should turn to God in prayer. It is only through prayer that we receive divine deliverance and wisdom to navigate a corrupt world. Some people lack the faith to live righteously, and their actions can directly or indirectly affect us. However, when we remain in communion with God, He shields us from complications and harm. His protection is our greatest defence.
The devil is relentless and constantly devises new strategies to ensnare believers. He prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). His weapons of wickedness are varied, and his tactics evolve. However, no scheme of the enemy can prevail against those who commit their ways to the Lord. Prayer in righteousness is our strongest weapon against his devices, ensuring we remain under God’s cover. That is how we get our deliverance.
There is no substitute for divine protection. We must entrust our lives to God to navigate this world without fear. His faithfulness assures us that He will neither leave us nor forsake us. As we commit ourselves to Him in prayer, we receive the strength and protection needed to stand firm against evil.
Never forget to pray, for the world is filled with wickedness, and the enemy is always seeking an opportunity to strike. But in Christ, we have the assurance of victory. God is faithful—He will strengthen you, protect you, and deliver you from every evil work. However, never forget to pray.
