Before approaching God, consider your personal understanding of Him. How do you truly perceive God? What personal foundation defines your approach? David’s prayer, for instance, stemmed from the conviction that God was his personal rock and refuge. He further acknowledged, ‘The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped’ (Psalm 28:7). This signifies a personal appropriation of God’s attributes, not merely a general acknowledgement.
David’s declaration, ‘my heart trusts in Him,’ denotes a continuous and active reliance. Therefore, cultivating deep trust in God is not a future hope or a past memory. Furthermore, it is not a fleeting, hesitant act. Instead, it represents a confident leaning; a steady reliance that brings profound peace and rest. True trust means committing everything into God’s faithful care. Thus, we release the need for constant doubt or checking.
David’s prayer flowed from a sincere heart of fellowship. It was never a mere ritual or formality. God invites us into this same reality today. He truly seeks those who confidently lean and rely on Him.
Consequently, we are certainly encouraged to cast our burdens and cares upon God once and for all. David, for example, experienced God’s continuous help, spanning his past, present, and future. Clearly, God remains ready to help all who seek Him and entrust their worries to the Lord.
God continually invites us into this profound trust and intimate fellowship. Consequently, we can confidently count on Him. Indeed, we can bank on Him, and fully rely on Him in every season. Therefore, when we place all our cares and worries upon God, we can be assured that He will take care of us.
