Then Moses said to the Israelites, “See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills.
Exodus 35:30-31 NIV
Many people think that God only cares about spiritual matters, such as salvation, prayer, forgiveness, and so on. While these are certainly important aspects of our relationship with Him, they are not the only ones. God also wants you to be successful and fulfilled in your career. Indeed, our complete wellbeing is the heart of God. He created us to work with Him in managing and creating new things in the world. Therefore, He equips us with the skills, wisdom, and knowledge we need to accomplish our purposes.
One example of this is found in the book of Exodus where God gave Moses the blueprint for building the tabernacle, a place where He would dwell among His people. The tabernacle was a complex and beautiful structure that required various kinds of materials and craftsmanship. God did not leave Moses to figure out how to make it on his own. He chose and filled specific people with His Spirit and gave them the abilities to work with gold, silver, bronze, wood, stone, and fabric. He also gave them artistic and design skills to make the tabernacle according to His plan.
Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.’
Exodus 31:1-5 NIV
God provided everything needed for the construction of the tabernacle, both the resources and the workers. He did not demand something that He had not already supplied. He is not like the cruel Pharaoh, who expected the Israelites to make bricks without straw and still meet the same quota. God is not as described by the lazy servant in Matthew 25:24 – harvesting where He has not planted. God is a generous and faithful employer; He gives the tools and the talents needed to do our jobs well.
So, if God did this for the people who built the tabernacle, don’t you think He will do the same for you? If you ask Him for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and skills to succeed in your career, He will not withhold them from you. He wants you to excel in whatever you do, whether it is in ministry or in the marketplace. He wants you to use your gifts and talents to glorify Him and to serve others.
God is interested in your career, because He is interested in you. He created you for a purpose, and He will help you to fulfil it. He will not leave you alone or let you down. On the other hand, He will guide you, teach you, and empower you. He will bless you and make you a blessing. He is the best boss you can ever have.
In conclusion, God is the source of all wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and skills. He has given us the ability to create, innovate, and solve problems in our world. Therefore, He wants us to use our gifts and talents for His glory and for the benefit of others. He also wants us to grow and improve in our ministry and career. That is why He is ready to supply us with more of His grace and power if we ask Him in faith.
Do you want to experience God’s help in your work? Do you want to be more productive, creative, and successful in your field? Would you like to make a positive impact in your generation? Then, I encourage you to seek God’s face and ask Him for the wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and skills that you need. God will not withhold any good thing from you. He will fill you with His Spirit and enable you to work for His glory. He will make you a blessing to your world.
