All Your Needs Are in Christ: Stop Chasing, Start Trusting

When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Matthew‬ ‭14‬:‭14‬-‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This passage offers a powerful revelation: the crowd didn’t need to leave in search of what they lacked, because all their needs were already present in Jesus.

The people gathered there were not ignorant of their surroundings. They knew they were in a remote place. They understood the practical implications of hunger and distance. And yet, they stayed. They remained with Jesus, not because they were unaware of the risks, but because they valued what He had to offer far more than what they lacked.

Their hunger for the miraculous outweighed their hunger for food. Their desire for the presence, power, and teaching of Jesus was so deep that physical needs did not drive them away. These people weren’t careless; they were committed. They came for something eternal and chose to wait on the One who satisfies completely.

This brings a deeply personal question to mind: Would you have waited on God for the miraculous, or would you have walked away in search of food?

It’s possible that anyone who left might have found what they were looking for. But they would have missed something far greater. They would have missed the miracle—missed the moment that Jesus had prepared just for them.

Those who stayed at Jesus’ feet, however, experienced something beautiful. They saw the miraculous unfold before their eyes, and they still had their physical needs met. Not only did Jesus heal their sick and minister to their hearts, but He also fed them. He provided food they hadn’t even asked for. Why? Because He cared.

Jesus’ response reflects His nature so clearly. He is not only concerned with our spiritual well-being, but also with the very real, tangible needs we face daily. He doesn’t overlook our hunger, our exhaustion, or our burdens. As He meets our spiritual needs, He also reaches into the physical, showing us that His compassion is complete.

This truth brings great peace: everything we need—everything we will ever need—is in Christ. I don’t need to run anxiously from place to place, chasing what isn’t lost. Jesus holds the power to supply it all.

He is trustworthy. He is dependable. If you can wait on Him—if you can trust Him enough to stay at His feet—you will find that He is more than able to meet every need.

To all who come to Him, He responds not only with power but with tenderness. He meets needs not merely because we ask, but because He sees, because He knows, and because He loves. He will provide, sustain, and He will fulfil every need—perfectly and completely.

We only need to trust Him, wait on Him, and place everything in His hands. And in doing so, we will see that He is faithful to keep all that is committed to Him until the very end.
