Verse of the Day – Isaiah 54:4 NET

Don’t be afraid, for you will not be put to shame. Don’t be intimidated, for you will not be humiliated. You will forget about the shame you experienced in your youth; you will no longer remember the disgrace of your abandonment.

Isaiah 54:4 NET

FEAR (or False Evidence Appearing Real as is popularly known) is a great weapon in the hand of the enemy – the devil. It is a dangerous emotion excited by an expectation of evil, or the apprehension of impending danger. Fear is an uneasiness of mind upon the thought of future evil likely to befall us or the outcome of the present suffering.

Though fear is also used in a positive sense as “reverence”, “awe”, for example, in Proverbs chapter 1:7, we read that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge…”. However, the scripture in this context is talking about been given to a fearful, distrustful, and unbelieving heart, especially concerning your faith in God to turn the situation around for better.

Perhaps God has been speaking to you about your current situation as He is doing again right now, and the possibility does not seem to make much sense to you. May I please remind you that you were called to trust in God, not necessarily to understand His ways. He says in Isaiah 55:9 that “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Do not let fear get in the way of reaching your heavenly Father, for that is one of its ways of operation; to distract you so much that you don’t even pray. God’s word says that you will not be put to shame, you will not be humiliated, and whatever pain or disgrace of the past will be totally forgotten. Do you believe that?

I am asking you to trust in the same God that delivered thousands of the Midianites soldiers into the hand of Gideon and three hundred men of the Israelites. Though their physical weapons were only trumpets, empty jars of clay and torches, nevertheless, not one of the three hundred was killed (Judges 7). Do not be afraid to follow God’s instruction completely, you can be sure that you will not be put to shame.
