Who then is the faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of his household to give to the others the food and supplies at the proper time?
Matthew 24:45 AMPC
May I remind you again that you have been assigned certain responsibilities to discharge (see here for the previous post). “Will you be found faithful?” is the question for our consideration today. Will you be actively carrying out your responsibilities when the Master shall come? Will you demonstrate yourself as a faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant by managing well what has been entrusted to you? One whom the Master can trust to carry out the assigned task without needing to be closely monitored.
Consider how the bible described some men who were to work on the repair of the Temple in 2 Kings as one who need not be monitored because they were honest in their dealings.
Those who were in charge of paying the workers did not have to give a report of how they spent the money, because they could be trusted.
2 Kings 12:15 ERV
They were in charge of supervising the work and the payment of all the workers. Because they could be trusted, they were not required to give accounts for the money in their care. Many today cannot be trusted with money, not even in matters of the church. Even though they give accounts, they are still unfaithful. What about you, can you be trusted in and out of sight?
Meanwhile, it is also important to note that the timing is as important as the responsibility which must be done. Will you do it at the “proper time”? There is the ‘proper time’ when you must carry out your responsibilities. Will you also remain at your duty post such that even if the Master should appear unannounced, will He find you actively doing your job?
Another thing I would like you to see is that you supposed to be a blessing to many people through your service. Will you leave them unattended to? Imagine you were not attended to by the means (people) through which you have been saved; what could have become of you? Will you be a faithful servant who can be trusted with grace and gifts for your generation?
