Verse of the Day – 11/1/2023

Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.

Romans 12:3 NLT

There is nothing in the gospel that encourages anyone to have a superiority complex. If a man thinks more highly of himself than he ought to think, he will probably despise the service to which the Master has called him and seek to undertake someone else’s work; work for which he does not have the adequate skills and grace to do.

Your boast becomes a prophecy of a future failure. The higher you lift yourself up in pride, the harder you’ll fall in disgrace. It’s better to be meek and lowly and live among the poor than to live high and mighty among the rich and famous.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭TPT‬‬

It is important therefore, that we should be humble first in the evaluation of ourselves, and in exercising our gifts. We should never have exaggerated ideas of our own importance. Neither should we be envious of others. We must not allow anything to hinder our service unto God.

For if any person thinks himself to be somebody [too important to condescend to shoulder another’s load] when he is nobody [of superiority except in his own estimation], he deceives and deludes and cheats himself.

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭3‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Rather, we must realise that each person is unique and that we all have an important function to perform for our Lord, and we should seek to exercise our gifts with all the strength that God supplies.
