Lord, you know all my desires and deepest longings. My tears are liquid words, and you can read them all.
Psalms 38:9 TPT
Many of us, like David, face situations that make us question God’s presence and goodness. We might wonder, “If God truly cares, why are these challenges happening?”. However, David’s perspective offers us a profound shift in focus. Here, let’s adopt a new perspective, a shift in focus like David. David, amidst his troubles, acknowledges that all his desires, struggles, and hardships lie open before God. Nothing escapes God’s sight. God sees it all.
So, this awareness is a source of immense comfort. No matter the difficulty, knowing God is aware and has the power to rescue us brings immense peace. David, trusting in God’s power (El Shaddai, the Almighty), declares, “I wait for you, Lord; you will answer, Lord my God” (Psalms 38:15). Even amidst difficulties, it’s crucial to seek the face of God and not lose faith. Like David, we can express our trust in the Lord and wait expectantly for His help.
Therefore, even in challenging times, actively seek God. Don’t give up on Him! In his tribulations, David found unwavering hope, allowing him to soar above his challenges. As scripture promises, ”But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.“ (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)
Instead of devising multiple plans or relying on our own strategies, we’re encouraged to follow David’s example of waiting on the Lord with hope. David didn’t resort to a guessing game with his life, trying various plans. He recognized the one thing truly worth doing: waiting on God with unwavering hope. The Passion Translation beautifully captures this in verse 15: “Lord, the only thing I can do is wait and put my hope in you. I wait for your help, my God” (TPT).
What about you? Are you facing a job search, infertility, health issues, or another challenging situation? What will you do while you wait? David teaches us that in this time of waiting, there’s one crucial action: wait and put your hope in God. He knows your pain and sees you in your situation.
In conclusion, in every season of waiting, let us anchor our trust in God’s faithfulness. God sees our tears and hears our cries. Our ultimate strength lies in patiently waiting on Him. He alone holds the power to bring forth breakthroughs and answers to our prayers. So, as you navigate your journey of waiting, remember to fix your gaze on the One who knows and understands every aspect of your situation. Trust in His timing, and let hope be your guiding light.
